New York Rangers Take Game 7 in Overtime
Leading 3-2 in the series, the New York Rangers came to Pittsburgh needing to win just one of two games. Game 6 didn't go as planned as the New York Rangers lost 5-2. Facing elimination, Igor Shesterkin came up with some big saves in the first period of Game 7. The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the second period on goals by Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad, but Pittsburgh tied it up in the third period, scoring two goals in the last five minutes.After a scoreless overtime period, the game went to a shootout. Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider scored for the Rangers, while Tristan Jerry stopped all three Pittsburgh attempts to send the Blueshirts to the second round.
Filip Forsberg led the way with two goals and an assist, including the game-winner in overtime.
Rangers to Face Hurricanes in Round 2
The Rangers will now face the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the playoffs. The Hurricanes are the top seed in the Metropolitan Division and one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup this year.

In Game 7 against Pittsburgh, Shesterkin made 44 saves, including several key stops in overtime.

Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider have been the Rangers' top two scorers in the playoffs, and they both came up big in Game 7.Zibanejad scored the game-winning goal in overtime, and Kreider scored the Rangers' other goal in the shootout.
