Eintracht Frankfurt Women Fight for a Point in a Top Match in Munich
Eintracht Frankfurt's women's team secured a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.
The result leaves Frankfurt third in the Frauen-Bundesliga, one point behind second-placed Bayern and five points behind leaders Wolfsburg.
Frankfurt took the lead in the 20th minute when Laura Freigang headed home from close range.
But Bayern equalized just before half-time through Lea Schüller's penalty.
Both teams had chances to win the game in the second half, but neither side could find a winning goal.
"We're happy with the point," said Frankfurt coach Niko Arnautis. "We knew it would be a tough game against Bayern, but we showed great character and determination.
"We had some good chances to win the game, but we also had to defend well at times.
"Overall, I'm pleased with the performance and the result."
