Surprise NFL Playoff Teams for Both Conferences

AFC Surprise Teams

The AFC has had some surprising teams emerge as contenders this season. The Cincinnati Bengals, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, have been a revelation, going from a 4-11-1 record last year to a 10-4 record this year and a legitimate contender in the AFC North.

Another surprise team in the AFC is the New York Jets. After starting the season 1-5, the Jets have won six of their last eight games and are now in the thick of the AFC Wild Card race.

The Baltimore Ravens are another team that has surprised many this season. After losing quarterback Lamar Jackson to injury, the Ravens have gone 4-1 with backup quarterback Tyler Huntley under center.

NFC Surprise Teams

The NFC has also had its share of surprise teams this season. The Philadelphia Eagles have been the biggest surprise, going from a 4-11-1 record last year to a 12-3 record this year and the top seed in the NFC.

Another surprise team in the NFC is the San Francisco 49ers. After starting the season 3-4, the 49ers have won eight of their last nine games and are now in the thick of the NFC West race.

The Minnesota Vikings are another team that has surprised many this season. After losing quarterback Kirk Cousins to injury, the Vikings have gone 4-1 with backup quarterback Case Keenum under center.
