Matt Strahm and Kody Clemens Join Phillies Ahead of Playoff Push
The Philadelphia Phillies have called up two players ahead of their playoff push: Matt Strahm and Kody Clemens. Strahm is a South Jersey native and the son of former Cy Young winner Roger Clemens.
Matt Strahm
Strahm, a 31-year-old left-handed pitcher, is a Cherry Hill native who attended Gloucester Catholic High School and Duke University. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft and has pitched for the Royals, San Diego Padres, and Boston Red Sox.
Strahm has a 4.45 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 85 strikeouts in 76.1 innings pitched this season. He has been used primarily as a reliever but has also made seven starts.
Kody Clemens
Clemens, a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher, is the son of former Cy Young winner Roger Clemens. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft and has pitched for the Tigers and Phillies.
Clemens has a 5.23 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched this season. He has been used primarily as a starter but has also made two relief appearances.
