Nearly Men Zverev and Dimitrov Target US Open Semi-Finals

Dimitrov Powers Into First US Open Quarter-Final

Dimitrov, a three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist, reached his first US Open quarter-final with a 7-5, 7-6 (6), 6-3 victory over 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini on Sunday.

The Bulgarian, seeded 15th, broke Berrettini's serve twice in the opening set and held on to take the tiebreak in the second.

Dimitrov will face either top seed Daniil Medvedev or Nick Kyrgios in the last eight.

Zverev Cruises Into Quarter-Finals

Zverev, the 2020 US Open runner-up, continued his impressive form with a 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (7) win over Brandon Nakashima on Monday.

The German fourth seed broke Nakashima's serve three times in the opening two sets and saved two set points in the third-set tiebreak before wrapping up victory.

Zverev will face either eighth seed Andrey Rublev or Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-finals.

Zverev and Dimitrov Looking to End Major Final Droughts

Zverev and Dimitrov are both looking to reach their first Grand Slam final since 2020.

Zverev, 25, lost to Dominic Thiem in the US Open final two years ago, while Dimitrov, 31, reached the Australian Open semi-finals in 2017, 2018 and 2021.

With Medvedev, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal all out of the draw, Zverev and Dimitrov will be among the favorites to reach the final.
