Lazio crush Cagliari to bolster top-four hopes
Immobile's brace helps Lazio ease past relegation-threatened Cagliari
S.S. Lazio kept their hopes of finishing in the top four alive with a comfortable 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Cagliari Calcio in Serie A on Sunday.
Immobile on target again
Ciro Immobile continued his impressive scoring form by netting a brace, taking his tally for the season to 25. The Italian striker opened the scoring in the first half with a clinical finish before adding another after the break with a powerful header.
Milinkovic-Savic adds gloss
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic sealed the victory for Lazio in the second half with a well-taken goal. The Serbian midfielder has been in excellent form this season and his goal against Cagliari was his sixth of the campaign.
Cagliari's struggles continue
The defeat leaves Cagliari rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table with just 15 points from 24 games. The Sardinian club are now 10 points adrift of safety and their hopes of avoiding relegation are fading fast.
Lazio move up to fifth
The victory moves Lazio up to fifth in the Serie A standings, just one point behind Atalanta and Juventus. Maurizio Sarri's side are now well-placed to secure a top-four finish and a place in next season's Champions League.
