Gold rush around Cologne: 'Bares für Rares' star Fabian Kahl discovers golden treasure - and gives it back
Fabian Kahl inspects over 1,000 items a year for the ZDF show 'Bares für Rares' - and thus regularly discovers historical treasures. During the filming of the anniversary show, however, he happened upon one of the greatest finds in his career: a golden treasure.
As reported by the broadcaster, Kahl discovered a pot while filming the anniversary show in Cologne, which contained numerous gold coins and jewelry. "I was shaking like a leaf," Kahl is quoted as saying. "You can't imagine what was going through my head at that moment."
The 'Bares für Rares' expert immediately realized the historical significance of the find and contacted the authorities. The treasure was then taken into police custody and is now being examined by experts. According to initial estimates, the treasure is said to be worth several million euros.
Despite the great value of the find, Kahl emphasizes that the money does not belong to him. "The treasure is not mine, it belongs to the state," he says. "I'm just glad that I could help preserve this historical find for posterity."
The treasure will now be exhibited in a museum. In this way, everyone will have the opportunity to admire the historical treasure that Fabian Kahl discovered during the filming of 'Bares für Rares'.
