Celta Vigo and Getafe reach stalemate in a goalless draw

Balaidos Stadium played host to a disappointing goalless draw between Celta Vigo and Getafe.

Neither side could find the back of the net in a match that was low on chances.

Celta Vigo started the brighter of the two sides and had the better of the chances in the first half. Iago Aspas had a great chance to give the hosts the lead in the 10th minute, but he fired wide from close range.

Getafe grew into the game as the half wore on, but they were unable to create any clear-cut chances. The best opportunity for the visitors fell to Enes Unal in the 30th minute, but his header was well saved by Matias Dituro.

The second half was a similar story, with both sides struggling to create chances. Celta Vigo came close to breaking the deadlock in the 70th minute, but Aspas's shot was blocked on the line by Djene Dakonam.

Getafe had a late chance to win the game in the 85th minute, but Jaime Mata's header was well saved by Dituro.

The draw leaves Celta Vigo in 11th place in the LaLiga standings, while Getafe are in 15th place.

The draw is a disappointing result for Celta Vigo, who were looking to close the gap on the top six. The point does, however, move them above Villarreal into 11th place.

For Getafe, the draw is a valuable point in their fight against relegation. The point moves them up to 15th place, three points clear of the drop zone.
