Air New Zealand Announces Direct Flights to New York
The New Service Will Launch In September 2023
Flights Will Operate Three Times Per Week
Air New Zealand has announced that it will launch direct flights between Auckland and New York City in September 2023. The new service will operate three times per week, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The flights will depart Auckland on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and will arrive in New York on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The return flights will depart New York on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and will arrive in Auckland on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Mondays.
The new service will be the first direct flight between New Zealand and the United States since 2012, when Air New Zealand discontinued its direct flights between Auckland and San Francisco.
Air New Zealand's chief executive officer, Greg Foran, said that the new service is a "significant milestone" for the airline.
"We are delighted to be able to offer our customers a direct flight between Auckland and New York City," Foran said. "This new service will make it easier for New Zealanders to travel to the United States, and will also provide a boost to tourism in New Zealand."
The new service is expected to be popular with both business and leisure travelers. New York City is a major business center, and it is also a popular tourist destination.
Air New Zealand is offering a range of fares for the new service. The lowest fares start at $1,299 for a one-way ticket, and $2,598 for a return ticket.
Tickets for the new service are now on sale.
