Young Woman Escapes with Minor Injuries After Vehicle Leaves Roadway
Salem, OR - A 19-year-old female driver was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Monday evening after swerving to avoid an animal in the roadway.
According to Oregon State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Highway 22 near milepost 10. The driver, identified as Sarah Jones, was traveling westbound when an animal, described as a deer, ran into the road.
Jones reportedly swerved to avoid the animal but lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and collided with a house. The impact caused significant damage to the house's exterior wall.
Jones was transported to Salem Hospital with minor injuries. The homeowner, who was inside the house at the time of the crash, was not injured.
Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate the incident. No citations have been issued at this time.
